Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has resigned.
The President announced the decided to leave the post in a TV address.
Nazarbayev is among the world's most long-serving leaders. He came to power in 1990, when Kazakhstan was still part of the Soviet Union.
After independence, he was re-elected in 1999, 2005, 2011 and - most recently - in 2015.
In February he ordered the government to resign.
