“Alarmed by reports that Iran’s vice president said the events of 1915 constituted a "genocide," Turkey is seeking high-level explanation from Tehran,” Turkish Hurriyet wrote.
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu spoke late Friday with his Iranian counterpart, Manouchehr Mottaki, who told him that Iran's position was in line with Turkey's stance on the issue.

“A hundred years ago the Ottoman Government committed genocide against a certain number of Armenians. Although the Ottoman Government does not exist now, Armenians demand official apologies and restitution from Turkey,” said Hamid Baghaei, Vice President and head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization, at a conference on Wednesday entitled “Iran: A Victory Bridge,” reported the official IRNA news agency.

“The status of the Russian military base in Gyumri is the business of Russia and Armenia alone,” U.S. State Department official representative Mark Toner stated.
"The U.S. and Armenia are closely cooperating partners, and the U.S. hopes for further cooperation. Russia, in turn, is an OSCE Minsk Group member playing a constructive role," Mark Toner added.

"The Georgian government is not going to sell the gas main that connects Russia and Armenia," the minister of Energy of Georgia Alexandr Khetagury announced in the government session on the eve.
"It is possible that the oil and gas corporation take 25 percent of the bonds to London exchange. What concerns the sale, Georgia is not going to sell any pipeline," Khetagury’s words quoted "Business Georgia" agency.

Sam Brownback (R- Kansas) enumerated the reasons that prompted him to place a hold on Frank Ricciardone’s nomination, saying that the latter is not “the right Ambassador for Turkey at this time- despite his extensive diplomatic experience.”

Wildfires that have wiped out Russian forests, villages and a military base sent the thickest blanket of smog yet over Moscow on Wednesday with the haze obscuring the capital's landmarks and penetrating the subway system.
"Pollution indicators in the capital reached a "critical barrier" overnight, and "even healthy people must take preventative measures," Moscow weather officials said in a statement.

Bryza Nomination Vote Postponed at Boxer's Request |

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee postponed a vote on U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan- designate Matthew Bryza until after the Senate August recess, in response to a ‘hold- over’ request by Senator Barbara Boxer (D CA), reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA.)
The decision to delay a vote on the Bryza nomination was announced by Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) during a business meeting originally scheduled to consider this matter. More than 30 other ambassadorial nominations were approved by unanimous consent.
"The hold- over requested by Senator Boxer provides needed additional time for a closer look into a flawed nomination," ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian said.
