Armenia Fund to establish regional cardiology center in Syunik |

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has begun construction of a
cardiology center in Armenia’s Syunik Region. The facility, to be built in Akner, a community adjoining the City of Goris, will be affiliated with Yerevan’s Center of Cardiology. The new hospital will be the only one of its kind serving southern Armenia and Artsakh.
The project, with an initial cost estimate of approximately U.S. $820,000, is financed by the fund’s French affiliate; the French-Armenian Doctors’ Association (Association de Santé Franco-Arménienne), based in Marseille; and the department of Bouches-du-

Armenia Fund begins reconstruction of drinking-water system in Aknaghbyur Village |

Aknaghbyur Village, located in Armenia’s Tavush Region, aiming to provide residents with an adequate and reliable supply of drinking water. The initiative, worth around 81 million drams (U.S. $222,000), is sponsored by the ARF Central Committee of Canada.
Slated to be completed by August 2009, the initiative will result in a thorough renovation of Aknaghbyur’s drinking-water spring, pipeline, and internal network. The existing drinking-water system, built in the 1970s, is in a state of disrepair and has long failed to deliver a regular supply of water

On December 10, the official signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between four Marzpetarans (Tavush, Lori, Syunik and Gegharkunik) and World Vision Armenia will take place, marking the official transfer of the USAID Medical Outreach Teams (MOT) Project to the Government of Armenia. The MOU, signed by the Governors of the four marzes and World Vision Armenia National Director Mark Kelly in the presence of U.S. Ambassador Marie L. Yovanovitch and RA Minister of Health Harutyun Kushkyan, will ensure continuation of improved access to quality primary healthcare services in rural Armenia
